By Kathy Hammond Waxing is a popular hair removal process for both males and females these days. It's a method that can be done at your convenience in your home or by a professional at select salons and spas. Depending on your particular skin, hair type and rate of hair growth, waxing has been known to provide smooth results as long as 3-8 weeks and is suggested as the longest lasting temporary hair removal method. While there are people who say this method of hair removal is not as painful as it sounds, basically, the waxing solution wraps around the hair and then is pulled. Pulling the hair and its roots out. If you're concerned about pain, you can purchase a pain reducing gel or anesthetic numbing spray from your pharmacist, which needs to be applied thirty to sixty minutes before waxing. And if you have problems with acne, avoid any type of waxing until your skin is clear. If you're not totally committed to following through the waxing process, no matter how much it hurts, you may just want to go to a salon and let a professional do it for you. But be aware that waxing at a salon can get pretty pricey, especially if you want to remove hair from large areas. Just to give you an idea, usually it's about twenty five dollars for bikini line hair removal. Today, there are several kinds of waxing hair removal products available - With warm waxing being the most often used. Cold wax comes in a paste or gel that isn't heated before applying it to the skin. Getting the wax from the container and controlling the thickness to the skin is what makes most cold waxes so messy. It's not quite as effective and less preferred than a warm wax. But if you have sensitive skin, a cold wax causes less skin irritations. If you choose to use a waxing hair removal product at home, read all instructions that come with your kit carefully. Always test a small area of skin for sensitivity or an allergic reaction. Your hair needs to be a little bit long, about an 1/8", for the best results with this type of hair removal product. So if your hairs are longer, trim them down. If shorter, allow them to grow in a bit. With this method of hair removal, you don't want to bathe beforehand. Hair absorbs moisture which makes it soft and harder for the wax to adhere to. Dry hair is tough and/so easier to pull off. Lightly powder your skin to absorb moisture and natural oils. This will keep hairs easier to pull, which will limit inflammation. Some people exfoliate the area before waxing to remove dead skin cells that can contribute to ingrown hairs. Do not overheat the wax. You don't want to burn your skin. Lower the temperature of the wax for facial hair and only use it on one small area at a time. The consistency of the wax should be soft, not runny. Hair removal by waxing can break the hair, which is a main cause of ingrown hairs. To avoid ingrown hairs, apply a thin layer of wax in the direction the hair grows. If you're using a strip over the wax, rub it in the same direction. Leave about one third of the strip free so you can get a good grip for pulling it off fast. Pull your skin taut and then pull the strip back, not up or out, in one smooth movement. Don't be timid - Slight pulls will only leave patchy areas as well as cause more pain. After waxing, remove any excess wax with a warm moist towel, being careful not to touch the skin with your hands, which might cause an infection. When skin is freshly waxed, limit creating ingrown hairs and other skin irritations by not wearing tight clothing around the area. Another way to limit severe skin problems after using a waxing hair removal product is to exfoliate the skin one to two days later. This will help prevent dead skin cells from building up. Be careful not to expose the newly waxed area to the sun for at least forty eight hours or the skin may darken, but not in a good way. And always use a good sun blocker thereafter. Be aware - Using a waxing hair removal product usually leaves a redness, so if you're doing it for a special occasion, do it a couple of days beforehand. Now, if you decide waxing may not be for you, there are alternatives. Do some research and you'll find other hair removal products that are not quite as, uh, "intense". How To Talk To The Police When Stopped For A Traffic Violation
By David Quinn When I first started police work about 10 years ago, I would never of guessed in a million years I would see what I see daily. I'm not talking about the stuff that everyone associates with police work, like murder scenes, accidents, gangs, etc., those are a given. I'm talking about traffic stops specifically, and how you're talked to as an officer on these stops at times. Let me explain. Here's a situation I was in one time where I was working a school zone area. We had received numerous complaints from the school that people were constantly speeding up and down the road. Of course, there were children in the area so it was somewhat serious. Let me also add, my general rule as an individual officer is (and every officer is different), is stopping for 15 MPH over, and issuing the ticket for 5 MPH over. I think that's more then fair, and most people are happy to hear that. But there's always that one guy or girl that wants to give you a hard time as a police officer. I can remember stopping a guy that was going 19 over (54 MPH in a 35 MPH zone). The guy was very polite until I came back with the ticket for 5 over. That's when all hell broke lose. He started yelling at me, and even tried getting out of his car (I pushed it back shut and told him to deal with it in court, not here). Literally, for about 4 minutes, I listened to him yelling at me telling me he was having a bad day and that he didn't deserve a ticket because of that. He was yelling so loud that he was spitting as he was talking. If you were driving by, you might think he was having a seizure or something (this example is a little more extreme then most). The whole time, I'm trying to be nice explaining that its only for 5 over; that other people were cited for the same amount; etc. But he didn't care (one thing you learn after working the streets for awhile is no matter how much you talk, how convincing, how much proof, etc. you have, some people DO NOT want to hear what you're saying). Long story short, I finally got mad and told him to wait in his car. I went back to my cruiser for a moment and put the ticket back to the original amount of 19 MPH over (as the ticket was never actually issued since he refused to take it originally). When I returned, I listened for about 10 seconds, and tossed the ticket in his car since he wouldn't take it, and walked away. There was no point in standing there as he had his mind made up. The whole point to this is all I wanted to do was issue the ticket while at the same time giving him a break. But some people don't want breaks. I can't tell you how many people I've dealt with that are rude and disrespectful during a stop. I don't mind people asking me why I stopped them, or even explaining why they did what they did; that's all fine, but yelling at me isn't going to help. So I've put together some examples of things NOT to do to help yourself on a traffic stop: 1. Be respectful just as you would when talking to a friend or family member. You don't have to kiss up, but you should try to be professional and polite when talking to the officer. Its important to remember that officers take in a lot everyday, and their patience starts to wear thin. 2. Don't yell out immediately "Why did you stop me!" I can't tell you many times this actually happens. I even get a lot of "Why the f**k did you stop me?" It still amazes me. Obviously this will not help you at all. 3. Showing off in front of your friends in the car is not good. For instance, ignoring the officer while he's standing there, keeping your radio turned up loud, looking away, etc. 4. Blatant lying. Probably 7 out of every 10 people I stop tell me they didn't do what I just saw them do. If you're going to do this, at least be a little bit convincing. For example, I've had people tell me far fetched versions of coming to a complete stop at a stop sign for instance, when they went through it so fast I've had to look up to make sure the sign was still posted. I can tell you from personal experience, the people that are honest with me, apologize, and tell me the reason (i.e. I'm running late for work, I apologize) will usually get the breaks. My personal attitude is since its been my experience that since I feel that most are being dishonest with me, why not reward the ones that are honest. 5. Fake tears. If an experienced officer suspects that you are crying purposely to get out of a ticket, you will almost always get the ticket and no break. 6. Telling the officer things like "You don't have anything better to do with your time?" and "You mean to tell me this is more important then catching a bank robber?" These statements are all too often used, and will not help you at all. These are just a few things you can do to help yourself when getting pulled over. Just remember, these officers are just doing their jobs. The more resistance you give them in doing their jobs, the more resistance you're likely to get yourself. If you're convinced you did nothing wrong, don't argue with the officer; handle it in court. Explaining your case to a judge or magistrate in a calm, professional and logical manner will go much farther then arguing or giving the officer a hard time in the street. Tables Of Stone: Avoid Being Scammed By Your Russian Bride: Part Three
By Olga Lebekov We found this posting on the RWG forum from "Smooth Operator", and had to share it. This is an excellent article to look at when looking for a Russian bride, or even just deciding to get into Russian dating. Rule #5: Be Prepared Financially To Pay Even More Tablet of Stone #5 states, "Be sure you can financially afford to embark upon this process." This is more than just a plane ticket, hotel, translator fees and other PRE's (penetration-related expenses). In the event things go well, you will be paying far more later on if you want to progress from there. As you very much know, success in any relationship requires regular communication. Suppose you fly over, hit the jackpot, or even ended up engaged, upon your return home you will have to shell out more to keep her. You will find yourself spending more money with long-distance phone bills, and calling thousands of miles is not cheap. You must also make subsequent trips and spend more quality time with her, and that adds up to even more money (duh). In the event you become betrothed, you must endure the agonizingly long K-1 process, and being up to nine or so months away from her would be a burden to your new relationship. Return at least a couple times while waiting for the K-1 process. One member, whom I will not identify, went on at least ten subsequent visits over six months and ended up selling his Porsche to afford his expensive habit. You will find yourself spending not just thousands, but tens of thousands of dollars later on. Later on in life, if you are lucky enough to marry her and bring her home, as a wife she changes from an occasional expense to an ongoing expense. Unless she can work right away, she would be doing the necessary things to assimilate into American culture, like learning English, but she would be a financial drain to you. As a man, your responsibility is to support her during this time, so you need to make sure that you have enough money to afford this long-term expense later on. Also take into account that you will also go out for dinners and PV's (penetration vacations) with her, so that will be even more money out of pocket. Reverting back to Rule #4, considering that you must remember your uncompromising duty to pay yourself first, this may become an enormous financial burden to you. Rule #6: Do not Try To Buy Her Love Take a good, hard look at the mirror and ask yourself this question: Are you an ugly mutha? Let's face it, dude. We are not going to Sweden, Norway or other rich European countries to hunt for PP's (penetration prospects) over there because in those posperous countries our buck would lose its bang. We are going to countries of the former Soviet Union because we can easily compete with the local men by virtue of favorable exchange rates. Sexy Olga wants the goods, you can buy them for her, and as long as you are willing to buy them for her, she could care less about how ugly you are. I've seen so many SRM's (second-rate muthas) with young girls at the mall, and the girls are going on shopping sprees with them. Given local wages, girls work for months to buy the quality goods that cost the same here in America. Couples and families save for weeks or even months to have dinner at a nice restaurant, while for us it's just another damned lunch at TGI Friday's. Cannot you see how opening your wallet would easily open her legs soon after you buy her a nice dinner and a gold bracelet? She doesn't love you, dude, she loves your money. "Baloney!" the SRM proclaims. "She loves me for who I am, ...blah, blah, blah...." Ask the SRM what he bought for her and he will either understate his spending, or blatantly lie about it. Unless he can succeed with an equally sexy girl in Luxembourg, Switzerland, Sweden or Norway--he never will--he can only win over FSU girls by virtue of MEE (maximum economic exploitation). Targeting poor girls abroad would be mutually beneficial, as SRM's win over Sexy Olga by virtue of a favorable exchange rate, and Sexy Olga gets the goods. The necessary amount to spend for success varies from man to man. The uglier you are, the more money you need. I've seen quite a few ugly muthas over there, and they shell out a lot. What you do with your money is your business, but I do have some suggestions. By spending lavishly every day you are with her, you are setting the tone of the relationship. Initially she will feel overwhelmed when you take her out to a five-star restaurant, and after receiving jewelry and other gifts from you, she will likely be more amenable to penetration. However, this will backfire on you in due time. You shell out lots of money early on to get into her pants, and afterward she will expect the same treatment the next time you are with her, or she may expect more later on. "Give her an inch, she'll take a mile." She will love you for as long as the money lasts, and when the money runs out, so will she. Do not waste your time and money with such a selfish woman; instead, hire a sexy prostitute for a memorable week of mindless semen-slinging. If you have serious intentions, seek a woman who values your company far more than the things you buy for her. You want her to love you for your character, personality, disposition and other intrinsic qualities that define you as a man, not as a source of income. You would want a woman who would be happy to screw your brains out after you buy her a Happy Meal at McDonald's. In the event you are fortunate enough to get engaged, you may have an issue of sending support money. First of all, if she has a job already she shouldn't ask you for money. Secondly, if she truly is unemployed during the K-1 process, it would be wise to send her money on par with local wages. Use an independent third party to verify local wages, and send that plus perhaps a little more to be generous, but do not spoil her. If you send her five hundred dollars a month you are trying to buy her love; if she asks for one thousand dollars per month you know she is scamming you. Dating a Single Mom
By Peter Portero You may not have ever given it any thought, but once you hit a certain age, almost everyone you start dating will have a kid or two. Dating a single mom once seemed like a terrible idea, but today it is really a normal part of dating. It is rare to find someone that carries no baggage whatsoever. And, by the way, there is baggage MUCH worse that a child. After all, you probably love children! There are several things to consider when dating a single mother. First, you really will not only become attached to her, but will likely also become attached to her child, if you do get more committed. This is something to really think about. If you know you are not ready for a commitment, you should probably not even think about going on a date with a mother. Although this is not always the case, most single mothers are looking for a commitment of some sort. They may not be looking for a husband, but they cant possibly date too many people in fear of confusing their child. Another thing to think about is the maturity level of a single mother. A single mother goes through an incredible amount of stress each day, just trying to get things done and raising her child. If you are looking for a real woman who knows how to take care of herself and her family, a single mother is the way to go! No Contract Cell Phone Plans
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Max_Bellamy]Max Bellamy The cell phone market fluctuates frequently with new innovations in technology. The arrival of new models and plans make older plans obsolete. It is therefore important to compare cell phone plans and their status in the market. Some of the aspects to look at include 'no contract' cell phone plans, prepaid plans and postpaid plans. The major benefit of a 'no contract' cell phone plan is that the subscriber does not need to enter into a contract. Choosing a cellular phone contract is very challenging. Signing a contract forces the customer to look into the future and decide how useful the plan will be. Most contract plans are available on month-to-month or one-, two- or three-year contracts, with a monthly fixed charge. 'No credit' plans are useful for those who have poor credit history. Most of these plans do not make a credit check. While the majority of plans do not need security deposits, a few monthly plans require it. These plans are great for students, teenagers, travelers and businessmen. Examples of 'no credit' plans are prepaid cell phone plans and 'pay as you go' cell phone plans. With prepaid plans, the subscriber pays for his minutes before he uses them. There are no monthly bills or hidden fee. Prepaid connections are normally preferred by those on a tight budget. These plans are quite affordable and good options in emergencies. They often offer discounts, a starter phone card or other smart benefits. Subscribers find them suitable because they do not have to sign a binding monthly contract. For beginners, there is no monthly bill or contract with the 'pay as you go' cell phone plans. The caller does not need a credit card, either. One can easily buy a phone card from the market, which is similar to giving the carrier money towards your account. The caller only needs to put $20 credit to the account every 90 days to keep the plan active. A hybrid plan is another variety of 'no contract' cell phone plans. The advantages are no contracts, no credit card requirements and no deposits. Bad Credit Loan - Let's Cut Through the Hype!
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jim_Eastman]Jim Eastman Bad credit loans seem to be a hot topic these days. In fact, if you need a bad credit loan, youre likely to find an overabundance of information. See if this sounds familiar. You need a loan. Maybe you want to buy a car, enroll in college, or take out a home improvement loan. Or perhaps youre a first time home buyer and youre looking for a mortgage. The problem is, youve got a bad credit history, and youre afraid you wont be able to find a lender. But then you do a little research on bad credit loans and find that, lo and behold, there ARE loans for people with bad credit available! In fact, EVERYONE wants to give you a loan. Loans for cars, mortgage loans, student loans, personal loans, loans for just about anything you want. Not only loans, but credit cards too. Why, who would have ever thought is would be so easy to get a loan when your credit history is so dismal? So, thats great news, right? RIGHT? Lets just stop for a moment. Ask yourself Why is everyone so eager to extend credit to me when my credit history is so bad? The question can be answered in two words -- HIGH RATES. Sure, you can get a bad credit loan easily enough. But youll pay through the nose when it comes to the interest rate. So Whats the big deal about paying a little higher rate? you ask. Lets look at a few figures. Suppose you want to buy a car. After looking long and hard, you find the perfect car for $20,000. So you apply for a car loan and get a loan with no trouble, but because of your poor credit, you have to pay 20% interest. On a 60 month loan, your monthly payments will be $529.88. Now if your credit were very good, you might have gotten the same 60 month loan at an interest rate as low as 10%, with monthly payments of $424.94. The bottom line is, over the life of the loan youll have paid an additional $6,296.40 in interest that you would NOT have paid if you had you gotten the loan at 10% interest. Your bad credit loan will have cost you $6,296 more FOR THE SAME CAR! But if you think thats bad, take a look at a home mortgage loan! Suppose you want to buy a $100,000 home and youre just thrilled to find a lender willing to give you a 30 year loan in spite of your bad credit. Hell charge you 12% interest, and your monthly payment will be $1,028.61. If your credit had not been so bad, you could have gotten the loan for a rate closer to 9%. If your credit had been very good, you might have been charged only 6% interest and your monthly payment would have been $599.55. The bottom line? That bad credit loan will have cost you (over the 30 year term) a staggering $154,461.60 MORE than you would have paid had you gotten a loan at the 6% rate. No, this is NOT a typo. Your lender will pocket $154,461.60 in additional interest payments because you were charged a higher rate for a bad credit loan. Thats over 1 times the cost of the house itself! So why did he charge you the higher rate? Because he knows he can get it! After all, hes got you over a barrel. He knows (and you know) that you need a loan, but because of your bad credit no ones going to give you one at a low interest rate. Do you see now why people are so eager to lend you money in spite of your bad credit? In fact, credit reporting companies make a fortune selling lenders the names of people who have bad credit. Those lenders know they can charge them high rates, and that if they need credit, they have no choice but to pay them. So whats the solution? You may be thinking What choice do I have anyway? My credit is bad, I need a loan to get a house (or car, college education, or whatever) and theres just nothing I can do about it except find a lender willing to give me a loan at whatever interest rate I can get! But consider for a moment whether you might be looking at the situation from a completely wrong angle. Rather than resign yourself to the situation, you should be thinking about repairing your credit. Now if you just found the house of your dreams, you may have no choice but to act now before someone else buys it. But if you can wait a couple of months, its highly likely you can make some major improvement in your credit score and THEN look for a loan. Maybe this isnt what you wanted to hear. After all, youre looking for a loan, NOT credit repair advice. But wouldnt it be worth it to postpone getting that house or that car if it would save you thousands, tens of thousands, or maybe even $150,000.00 or more over the long haul? If youre thinking your bad credit history is something youre just stuck with, or that it will take years to improve, youre mistaken. Its often possible to make major improvements in your credit rating in just a few months, and in some cases in as little as 30 days! Its not that difficult either. You basically have 2 options. You can hire a Credit Repair Agency or you can take the do it yourself approach. If you decide to hire an agency, you can easily find one in your phone book or online. Just look for credit repair. However, it wont be cheap. Agencies usually charge from $2,500 to $5,000 or more to repair your credit. But thats still a bargain compared to how much youll be saving in the long run. But if you think only a professional agency can fix your credit, think again! In spite of their high fees, they wont do anything for you that you cant easily do for yourself. If you can write a few letters, address, stamp, and mail them you can repair your own credit. If you choose the do it yourself route (recommended) you can learn how by doing some online research. Unfortunately, along with all the good information youll find some misinformation as well. A better option is to find an authoritative book on credit repair and follow the advice therein. In conclusion, you should seriously consider postponing your search for a bad credit loan. First spend a couple of months improving your credit rating. Then you can abandon the search altogether, and begin looking for a GOOD credit loan! (c) eBusiness Power Jim Eastman is the support contact for ErasingBadCredit.com. Planning Your Wedding Day - Choosing A Theme
By Veronica Snelling One of the most important decisions to be made about your wedding day is whether or not you are going to have a theme for your big day. Are you going for
- one, two or three colour scheme?
- a simple wedding or a big fancy day?
- a 50's style wedding?
- a medieval style wedding?
- an Elvis style wedding? Whatever you decide you must choose your theme and stick to it! It is all too easy to be swayed by all the gorgeous wedding dresses, favours and beautiful designs there are out there and oh so difficult to change when you have made most of the arrangements. For example: the DJ - you have decided on a medieval theme. You have bought the beautiful medieval style dress, arranged an appropriate venue, menu, flowers and decorations. All that is left is to arrange the DJ and the music. You want some appropriately medieval style music for the big moment. Have you checked that the DJ can supply music of the type you are looking for? Is he willing to play what you want (not what he prefers or thinks is better!) Modern music would be out of place with your theme and could ruin your day.
Equally for example, at an Elvis style wedding 'Love Me Tender' would be the perfect choice but not an outrageous punk rock song. So you can see that choosing the right DJ for your wedding day can make all the difference to your perfect day. Get the music right and the romance flows right along. The Sins of The Flesh, The Series: "Theft"
By Anthony Smith Gunman robs Maryland churchgoers at evening service. BALTIMORE, Jan. 1 A gunman burst into a church service Sunday evening and robbed several members of the congregation, authorities said. About 50 people were attending the service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Bel Air when a man entered brandishing a handgun, the Harford County Sheriff's Office said. No injuries were reported. How many times have you heard this passage from Exodus 20:15 ? Thou shalt not steal. How many do you know personally that violate this law? Today we see many trying to take the Bible out of all government and off the court house walls. But don't they understand that many of the laws of the land are written in accordance to Gods Laws, not only to Moses but also to The New Testament Church, under the Law of Grace and Mercy? The old saying, you can lock out a thief, has become null and void. If a man desires to steal there is no lock that will keep him out. A lock is not ment for an unrighteous man but for the righteous. God established Government and Laws covering all aspects of its administration. Prisons today, as it was in the time of Abraham and Jesus, are full of thieves, some we call, whiteand some we call Blue caller, crimes. It is so easy for man to put a label on sin, calling it something else to make it sound better. But sin is sin and will be judged accordingly. Exodus 22:1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. The repayment of theft was greatly noted in Scripture and the Laws were upheld. There was no doubt what the punishment was. Lev 19:11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another. Theft takes many forms, the one we associate with the most is, material goods, cars, money, jewelry, ect. But theft also comes in by stealth, con-men, liars, deceivers. Many times we are the victims of theft by buying something that others say works and then once we get it home we find out its broken and doesn't work, this is also theft by deception. Home repair that isn't done correctly is also theft by deception. The list goes on and on. Weather these acts are criminally prosecuted or not, God knows and deals with it on His own terms and in His own time. Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Sin is repaid by God. When a Child of the King is hurt by un-believers God deals with it Himself. Mark 9:42, And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. Pro 6:30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; (Clark states; Men do not despise a thief if he steal - Every man pities the poor culprit who was perishing for lack of food, and stole to satisfy his hunger; yet no law clears him: he is bound to make restitution; in some cases double, in others quadruple and quintuple; and if he have not property enough to make restitution, to be sold for a bondsman; ) No matter what the situation is, there is no justification for a thief. No law exonerates him from his actions. There is no excuse for theft, if a man is a believer in Christ. All of mans needs will be met if He only believes. The Prophet put it this way; Psa 37:23-25; The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. I not seen the righteous forsaken. These words are true. I've known many a Christian in need but the thought of stealing for food never entered into their mind, for as they needed, they received from God. Theft comes from greed and lust, covet-ness is another sin that plays a great part in theft. When man goes beyond what God has provided for Him and lust to have more, then theft becomes a reality. In Matthew 6:25, Jesus Said; Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. Thieves are never satisfied by food and clothing, they desire what others have, not willing to work for the ability to buy what they want. They pray off the unsuspecting and destroy not only their own soul but the trust of the victim for mankind. Luke 3:14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. Dis-contentment is another way of stealing. Look around you at the work place, do you know of people that are paid for working and most of their day is spent trying to avoid doing what they agreed to do? This is theft in deception and dis-contentment. When we agree to do a job for such amount of money, God holds us to that agreement, for we cannot hide from God. Lets read; Matthew 20:11-15; And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? Here are words of Wisdom; John 10:10 The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (The theft of the soul.) Romans 2:21, Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? (Hypocrisy in Service) Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. ( We work to give to others, Saint or Sinner.) Mat 6:19-20. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: Phi 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.end part 3. ars Temple of Spirit & Truth Ministries

Healthcare Providers -- It's Time for Your Physical
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Donald_Bryant] Donald Bryant I think this is a good time for a checkup, or physical as it is termed in the healthcare industry. I mean this is a good time to check the health of your site or setting. As healthcare providers, we are dedicated to curing our patients of their ills and keeping them healthy. My question is, Do you have the same attitude about the place you work? Is your site meeting its highest goals? If not, then it is time for a change. I think that as a group healthcare sites are a lot like our patients. Some patients
dont work hard at keeping healthy. In fact, many engage in behavior that is very
detrimental to their well-being. You probably can easily image such a person.
Maybe they are very overweight. Well, there are many healthcare facilities that are
like that. They have many processes in which there are steps which add no value,
that are a complete waste of time and effort. Then, there are patients who do a lot
of the right things. They eat correctly, get a good amount of exercise, and generally
have a positive outlook. There are a few healthcare facilities that are fit too. What does a healthcare site in not so good shape look like? These sites, I believe,
have as their goals just to meet their compliance standards, those set by the state,
JHACO, or the FDA or some other body. As long as they are being accredited, they
are satisfied. Their attitude may be, If it isnt broken, dont change it. They are
like patients who are content to just sit on the couch, watch TV, and eat whatever
they like as long as they dont feel poorly. What does a healthcare site in good shape look like? I believe that such sites are
continually looking for ways to better themselves. They engage in continuous
quality improvement activities. They are really concerned about the health and
attitudes of their patients and clients. They use surveys and they question and
listen. Some even use a tool called quality function deployment when designing
new facilities or programs. Besides listening to patients, they pay close attention to their employees. They
actively seek ideas from the employees on how things could be done better. They
want to have their employees enjoy working at their site and support its mission.
The leaders of such sites actively reflect this attitude. Further, such sites seek ways to improve the processes at their site. They cut waste
and save time and improve the bottom line. Many tools for doing this can be found
in quality disciplines such as Lean Healthcare and Six Sigma. You can find a very
good white paper on Lean Healthcare at the www.IHI.org website. What are the results of these positive and active approaches? Our patients are
happier, fitter, and find time to do the things they want. They generally live longer
with fewer health problems. Healthcare sites which are actively engaged in
continuous quality improvement programs generally find that they have the time to
accomplish their objectives and dont feel rushed, they have an improved bottom
line, and they rarely experience adverse events. The doctors dont have to work
impossible hours to accomplish all they want. They work as a team. Let me encourage you at this time to sit down with your colleagues and leaders and
assess the health of your site. If you find that you fall short of what you should be, I
hope that you put in the effort to reach the best goals. After all, we expect the
same from our patients, dont we? Donald Bryant helps healthcare providers meet their challenges and writes

The Military Craze Invades the Ramp and the Kindergartens
By Philip Nicosia Collecting military surplus may not have the same oomph as ring able to tell people that you collect fine and delicate porcelain, but the market is growing very quickly. Individuals are getting into itand so are schools and the designer industry! They are realizing that buying vintage and antique military surplus can be very fun and even useful. Schools are getting into military gear so that they can create an in-house :teachers loot bag of available teaching aids. There are costumes that may be used at plays and dress-ups, or can even be worn by a teacher to add a little spice to a lecture on a war. You cant ignore a teacher who walks into the room looking like G.I. Joe. Nor is it possible to look at the many supplies they use for desert assignments without thinking about the sacrifices they are now making in the Middle East. You can also use old maps, helmets, sample military equipment (do handle with great precautions when showing to the kids). It brings to life dull history assignments on the Vietnam War and the Second World War. It can be used by schools to supplement the lecture and home readings, and can even be included in the schools exhibits. Why not dress an entire mannequin in military gear and have it ready for History Week? Why not use the same mannequin and props to talk about war, or prompt a discussion on the sacrifices the people assigned to touch machines? These materials are also very useful on heroes days or when headlines bring questions on terrorism or international policy on the forefront. There are also accessories like fans, shoes, elements, combat gear, and accessories like canteens. Kids will enjoy seeing these things up close and are excited about hearing more of the people who once used those items. Of course, theres a coolness factor involved in letting a child bring an antique or vintage military accessory like a canteen or a helmet. Parents can buy a few to make camping more fun. Kids really feel like theyre roughing it just like the brave soldiers, even if they pitched their tent in the safe corners of their backyard rather than in enemy filled territory. (Mosquitoes can be considered enemy, though.) The designer industry, on the other hand, are inspired by the military look, mixing the green and gray print with softer, more feminine fabrics. The military jacket looks like this seasons special, and looks almost sexy with a simple and elegant top. Combat boots are also very popular, although they are understandably scruffy from use. You can order a new one or spin that angle into a unique story. Collectors can be inspired by the fashion tips, and even use the pieces as part of the wardrobe. This includes military jackets and military boots. Caps and pins (or better yet, pins adorning the hats) can also add a military vibe to an outfit. Acid Reflux and Your Diet
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dani_Martin] Dani Martin There is an undeniable connection between the occurrence of acid reflux and diet. Everything in your body has a delicate balance. The human body is a miracle of systems that maintains just the right conditions to keep everything running smoothly. Therefore its the healthiest when there is an acidic balance or equilibrium. The stomach regulates acidic digestion with enzymes that convert acids into manageable alkaline or basal substances. However, when there is an over-production of acid, usually helped along by lifestyle choices like overeating or smoking, acid reflux is likely to occur, and if it goes unregulated, acid reflux disease can develop. Fortunately, acid reflux and diet can be effectively improved by launching a few lifestyle changes. One of the most important things you can do to cool heartburn down is to avoid certain foods. In many cases, just changing the diet is all that is necessary to control acid reflux. Most health care professionals recommend a low-acid diet consisting of more alkaline or basal foods. Foods such as chocolate, foods with a lot of extra cheese, tomato sauce or catsup based foods, onions, chilies, caffeinated beverages, fatty or fried foods, alcohol, mint, and citrus fruits have been known to aggravate digestion, acting as catalysts for acid reflux. So what foods are safe to eat? The key qualities in heartburn-friendly foods, for most people, are low fat and non-spicy. So, with that in mind you can probably guess that leafy greens and broccoli, lean cuts of grilled meat, egg whites, low-fat cheeses like feta, apples and bananas, multi-grain breads, and low-fat salad dressings are good choices. Junk food? Occasionally, but with caution, choose fat free cookies, baked potato chips, or red licorice. A good exercise to do if you suffer from heartburn regularly is to create a food diary and log your meal intake for 2 or 3 weeks. Then note each time you experience heartburn in order to target the foods you need to avoid. In addition to making better food choices, consider changing your portion perception. Overeating is another acid reflux aggravator. Exercise caloric conscientiousness and choose to skip that second helping or fatty side dish, eat slow and drink plenty of water. Living without heartburn is within anyones grasp, and shouldnt require drastic medical treatment. Simple, reasonable modifications in your eating habits can do wonders for quelling acid reflux, not to mention improving overall health. Preparing for Your Baby's Baptism or Christening
By Charlene Hertzberg A Baptism or Christening is a familys way to introduce their child into their church and faith officially during which they are blessed, and thanks is given for the childs safe arrival into the world. However, some parents may choose for it to be a simple naming ceremony rather then a full scale religious one. A naming ceremony is a way to welcome the child without committing the child to the religion. The first thing you must do to prepare for your babys Baptism/Christening is to decide if you will have a religious or secular (non-religious) ceremony. Once you have chosen which type of ceremony you would like to do, you will then need to select a date and contact your church. You will need to meet with your minister, priest, or clergyman to discuss the details of the event. Will you it be held at the church, your home, garden, or another location? Find out about the guidelines for the ceremony, will it be something that is performed during a regular Sunday service or is it something that is done on a separate day and time that you need to schedule. If your church requires it, you may have to take special classes before the Baptism/Christening takes place. Dont forget to ask questions about the procedures you need to follow during the actual service, as well as the use of things like video and photography during the event. Finding out about these things ahead of time can be helpful when sending out invitations to your guests because you are able to make them aware of the rules they must follow during the ceremony, for example: no video cameras or flash allowed inside the church. Once you have set your date and determined the information you will need to communicate it to your guests, it is time to send out invitations. It is best to begin looking for invitations about 1 month before the ceremony. You will need time to get them made up and to get them out to your guests. Guests should receive them at least two weeks prior to the big day. For many people, this will mean that you need to choose your invitations before the baby is born. The most important part of the entire event will be selecting your babys Godparents, should you choose to have them. The Godparents will be the people who will take care of your child if something were to happen to you and your spouse, so making a hasty decision is not a good idea. Religiously speaking, theyre also responsible for directing your child in the customs of your religion. Traditionally, in many religions, baby girls are given two Godmothers and one Godfather, and baby boys should have two Godfathers and one Godmother, but its really up to the parents to decide how many they want. You will also want to take into consideration how the chosen Godparents may handle the responsibility of becoming your childs full-time guardian should the need arise. Once you have made the all important decision of choosing the Godparents, the rest of the event will be a breeze. Traditionally, the Baptism/Christening gown that your baby will wear during the service would be a long white or cream gown, worn by both girls and boys. Many families will have a gown that has been passed to them from other generations, but if you do not have a gown you can choose to buy a vintage gown from an antique store, or purchase a new one. If you are not sure about having your baby boy wear a gown, do not be concerned, in recent years it has become quite common for baby boys to wear formal short suits or a formal white shirt and pants. If you are planning to buy a new outfit, you may want to find out how to preserve it for use by future generations. The actual service will only last for about 20 or 30 minutes, and then you may elect to hold a small reception afterwards. If you do plan to have a reception, you will need to decide where youre going to have it because you may need to book the venue in advance if you want to use a restaurant or hall. The food doesnt need to be extravagant, it can be as simple as sandwiches, vegetable and fruit trays, and drinks, or you can choose to have a hot meal catered. If youre going to do the food yourself, prepare as much as you can the night before and store it at your chosen venue and then talk to family members about helping you set everything up. If money is an issue, consider holding a potluck. Youre family and friends will be more then happy to bring their favorite dish and you can be sure that there will be plenty of food, without the added financial stress. Whether opting for a reception or not, it is a good idea to pick up a small favor for your guests. These can be any small gift that your guests will appreciate, and can be given at either the ceremony, the reception, or both. Your guests will appreciate your etiquette and your thoughtfulness. In some communities, it is also common to give a small gift to the godparents. Once your babys special day is complete, dont forget to send thank-you cards or letters to all your guests to show your appreciation for coming to your childs Baptism/Christening. For those family members and friends who were unable to attend the event, whether due to distance or other obligations, you may want to consider sending them a Baptism/Christening announcement as a way to share your day and provide them with a keepsake. Charlene Hertzberg is the owner of http://www.thebabblingbaby.com and http://www.lifes-favors.com , where she regularly advises parents as they strive to create the perfect baptism and christening events. She also spends hundreds of hours every year researching special events and celebrations. 6 Fashion Tips for Gardeners
By Linda Gray Clothes and skin cream are far removed from potting out your begonias, or digging a trench for a line of potatoes. But the clothes you wear are important for your protection in the garden. Here are six simple but effective solutions to various gardening hazards... 1. Starting from the top, you need to protect your head. Body heat escapes through the head and in the cold weather a warm hat should be worn. Knit yourself a 'gardening crazy' hat or buy a simple woollen hat on the high street. And in the summer, even more attention should be paid to the head. The sun's rays are not only hot but they actually burn you. We all know this but how easy it is to forget when you want to soak up the sun after months of grey or cold weather. Invest in a cool sunhat. Not only will it help protect you from sunstroke, it will also protect against the drying out of your hair and skin. 2. Keep one old comfortable jacket or short coat, preferably with fairly large pockets, especially for the garden. When you're working, you won't need to worry about dirty marks. Leave them there, it's all part of the gardener's designer uniform! 3. Suitable trousers.. again keep a couple of old pairs especially for gardening. Wear heavy duty jeans for heavy duty work. A good waterproof pair are handy in damp climates. In fact, in damp climates, a whole waterproof gardening suit is invaluable. There is always planting to do in the rain, and a waterproof hat, jacket and trousers tucked in a pair of boots will keep you nice and dry! 4. Protect your hands. For light work, potting on or pinching out tomato plants, a disposable plastic pair of gloves or a pair of kitchen rubber gloves will be enough. For heavier work - pruning roses, weeding thistles and nettles, wear heavy duty gardening gloves, or your hands will suffer. 5. Watch those toes! Invest in a pair of steel toe capped boots and wear them! If you're pottering in the greenhouse or doing a little weeding, a simple pair of wellington boots will do, or even sandals if the weather allows. But as soon as you pick up a large tool, your steel toe-caps should be worn. If you're not used to them, these boots can feel heavy and cumbersome at first, but stick with it. If you're doing heavy work, you need heavy boots. 6. And last but certainly not least, you must protect your skin. Moisturise all exposed body parts whenever you are woking in the garden, rain or shine. Working outside will give you a nice healthy glow, but the wind and sun will dry your skin given half a chance. So there we have it, not a fashion designer's dream, but these 6 garden fashion tips will make life a lot more comfortable, and safer, for the average home gardener. Happy gardening! Dreams and Depression: Was Sigmund Freud Correct?
By Gabe Mirkin, M.D. Sigmund Freud was one of the most influential people of the 20th century. He claimed that depression and anxiety are influenced by factors that affect us in childhood, and that interpreting dreams can lead us to the childhood causes. He felt that psychotherapy could make emotionally sick people heathy by getting them to understand that what happens in childhood can cause them to develop depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. For 50 years, Freud was one of the most revered scientists on earth. Then scientists discovered neurotransmitters, chemicals that pass messages from one nerve to another. They found that people who hallucinate and are not able to think clearly are schizophrenic because their brains make too much dopamine or glutamate; that people are depressed because their brains make too little norepinephrine and serotonin; that people who shake with Parkinsons disease do so because their brains make too little dopamine; and that people who lose their ability to reason and remember because they suffer from Alzheimers disease have too little acetyl choline. So now these diseases are treated with drugs that raise or lower brain levels of neurotransmitters. Drugs, like Mirapex, raise dopamine levels to treat Parkinsons disease. Drugs such a Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft to raise brain levels of serotonin and treat depression. Modern psychiatrists know that you cannot treat chemical depression, schizophrenia or anxiety just with talking. You treat mental disorders with drugs to correct abnormal brain levels of neurotransmitters. But wait a minute. Because today psychiatrists treat depression, anxiety and schizophrenia with drugs, doesn't mean that Freud was wrong. Psychiatrists cannot talk people out of mental disease, but new scientific marvels called pet scans, electroencephalograms, MRIs and so forth show why Freud was right. When you go to sleep at night, your eyes are still. After a while, your eyes dart from side to side rapidly. This is called Rapid Eye Movement sleep or REM for short, and during REM you have dreams. If you wake up, you can report your dreams, but if you try to remember your dream a few hours later, you usually cant. During REM sleep, the part of your brain that governs emotions and visual imagery are activated, while the part of you brain associated with rational thought and reasoning are turned off. So dreams may uninhibit you so you can think about things that may be too painful to think about when you are awake. Or dreams may allow you to discover things about yourself that you would never tell directly to anyone, let alone your doctor. So, 100 years after Freud published his Interpretation of Dreams, we can see that he may be right because dreams can be a clue to why we feel depressed, anxious and may reason poorly. But psychotherapy, by itself, has not been shown to be an effective treatment for most cases of depression, anxiety or schizophrenia. On the other hand, psychotherapy plus medication is more effective than medication alone to treat anxiety and depression. Psychotherapy can help people cope better with their problems and interpreting dreams can help them understand why they are what they are. Even though many theories proposed by Freud one hundred years ago appear to be wrong, Freud remains one of the most brilliant contributing intellectuals of the 20th century. By Yulin Peng There're many ways to conduct online job search. However, many job seekers only think of posting resumes and searching opportunities on big job sites like monster.com, hotjobs.com, and careerbuilder.com etc. There's nothing wrong with it, but according to a survey conducted by careerXrooads.com, of all hires in 2002, only 3.6% come from monster.com, 1.5% come careerbuilder.com, and 0.5% come from hotjobs.com. Morever, many companies only advertise their job openings on their own company websites and some other speciality websites. Wouldn't it be nice if you can use search engines to find these opportunities that are ignored by other job seekers? Before we go any further of how to conduct online job search, I would like to talk a little bit about Boolean Logic. If you are a math or a computer student, you may have already known it. Actually, it's very powerful, yet simple to use in search engines. The following are some of the most popular Boolean operators, modifiers and field search commands. AND: Collects documents that include all terms. Google default operator. Example: job AND nursing OR: Collects documents that include at least one of the terms. Example: nurse OR rn NOT Collects documents that include the term that precedes it but not the term that follows it. AltaVista: AND NOT; Google: - (e.g. submit); All The Web: ANDNOT Example: manager AND NOT sales NEAR Collects documents with both terms that are within close proximity to each other (usually 10 terms or less). AltaVista ONLY. Useful for finding contacts within a specific location. Example: manager NEAR marketing Quotation Marks Specify an exact phrase Example: SAS programmer Parenthesis () Define a search subset Not used in Google Example: (iowa OR ia) AND (manager OR director) Wildcard Symbol * Matches any type and number of characters. AltaVista ONLY. Example: manag* url: Look for keywords in the document URL. Google: inurl Example: url:position AND ibm title: Look for keywords in the document title. Google: intitle Example: title:position AND merk link: Look for pages linked to a particular URL. Example: link:dell.com host: Scans a specific computer or host of a URL. Example: host:mit.edu domain: Looks for pages within a specific domain like .com, .org, .edu. Example: domain:.org AND nurse like: Looks for pages related in content AltaVista: like: Google: related: Example: like:dell.com filetype: Looks for pages with a specific file type attached or documented Example: filetype:xls OR filetype:pdf Now, let's say you're a pharmacist and is looking for a new job in boston area. So you can go to www.altavista.com and conduct online job search using the following string: url:job AND pharmacist AND contact AND position AND boston If you use www.google.com, you don't need to type in AND since it's default operator in Google. So you can just use: inurl:job pharmacist contact position boston Now look at some more complicated online job search examples: (url:(job* OR opening* OR position* OR employ*) OR title:(job* OR opening* OR position* OR employ*)) AND send AND benefits AND opening AND EOE AND contact AND "SAS programmer" AND boston ("resumes@" OR "jobs@" OR "careers@" OR "hr@" OR "human resources") AND (apply OR "send us" OR "send your" OR submit OR "fax us" OR "fax your") AND ("organic chemist" OR medicinal chemist") AND (synthesis OR synthesize) Now you see the power of online job search? Try different key word combinations and use them in different search engines. Some links you find might be junk links, but keep trying, as long as you pick up right key word combination, you should be able to find many job opportunities that are buried in deep deep web and are ignored by other job seekers. Happy searching. Career Search from Within
By Teresa Proudlove Seeking meaningful and fulfilling work can become a discouraging, confusing and overwhelming journey. Beware spending too much time looking for your answers outside of yourself. Ultimately, coming to know our right livelihood is the inner work of our whole being. In order to nurture our well-being and come to our right livelihood; it is best to frequently pause and halt the busy "doing and thinking" process. Pause, relax and trust. This runs contrary to the belief espoused within the employment industry of "looking for a job is a full-time job." Woe upon those who follow this motto. Follow the Voice of Your Heart If we push ourselves non-stop into our career/job search (or within our jobs/lives) how can we hear the voice of our heart? The small still voice within is buried under a constantly busy mind and hectic life - so applauded by our society. I am not advocating that we wait for manna from heaven to supply our answers. We need to do our research and seek the help we may need in order to make wise choices. However, I have found great value in pausing and waiting rather than trying to force a decision or an action. Try it. Through pausing and exercising patience much is often revealed to us. Also, by pausing, relaxing and trusting we are aligning ourselves moment by moment with our heart and our God. How do we distinguish between the voice of our God and that of the busy-mind pushing us along - often driven by the underlying insecurity of being human? As Robert Johnson, Jungian analyst and author of "Balancing Heaven and Earth," says; "How do we know if we are truly following the will of God? One knows instinctively; there is a sense of peace, balance, and fullness, an unhurriedness." From my own experience I would add there is a clean, direct simplicity to my small, still voice. Also, if the voice directing me from within is harsh, hurtful or driven by fear I know with certainty this is NOT the voice of my God. Finding work that is meaningful and fulfilling is not something we 'figure-out,' abdicate to external forces, nor something we push ourselves to do. Rather, it is more a process in time wherein we come to know and trust our deepest desires, intuition and clarity of mind. Coming to know our right livelihood involves our whole being. Seeking the Slender Threads Seeking the slender threads weaving our lives can also lead us toward meaningful work. What are the slender threads? "Being in a particular place at just the right time, meeting someone who steers you in an unforeseen direction, the unexpected appearance of work or money or inspiration just when they are most needed. Whether called fate, destiny or the hand of God, slender threads are at workweaving the remarkable tapestry of our lives." Robert A. Johnson, Balancing Heaven and Earth. Viewing my own life I see how those slender threads - chance meetings - patterned decades of my life. I see how some of my best career choices came about through some great benevolent force guiding me, connecting me to necessary people and experiences more so than my well-made plans or goals. All I did was get the information I could, put myself out there and then, follow the little steps revealed to me. If you are in job search or looking for career direction put yourself "out there" and be open to slender threads. Participate in free local employment programs - looking and listening for unexpected connections or clues. Pay attention to meaningful words that suddenly catch your attention or replay in your mind whether from a passing stranger, friend, dream, song, TV show, book title, or. Tell everyone you meet you are in career change, soul searching, job searchfind your own words. In a sentence or two let them know what you enjoy doing, what your skills are, what interests you or where you would like to work. Ask if they can think of a job title that might suit someone like you, or where you might apply for work, or who else could they suggest for you talk to. People love to help if we will but open ourselves to their generosity. Take little steps. Pause, relax and trust your small inner voice. Look for the slender threads weaving the majestic tapestry of our lives. Herein, follow the guidance toward your right livelihood. The 3 1/2 Ways to Grow Any Business
By Mary Eule Let me first say that I did not choose 3 instead of the usual 3 to be different or clever I opted for the fraction because I cant decide whether my is really a part of one of the other three, or deserves is own number, so I chickened out and compromised. Judge for yourself I wont delve into these in great detail for two reasons First of all, they are easy-to-grasp concepts, even for novices. Secondly, youll find these discussed ad infinitum in countless business textbooks and marketing websites. You should be ever mindful of them, however, as you develop your plan. 1. Getting New Customers: The reasons why businesses try to acquire new customers is obvious so I wont insult you with further explanation. Still I will reiterate that the vast majority of Americas small businesses erroneously devote most of their time, money and energy here, and pay little attention to the other 2 ! 2. Increasing the Average Transaction ($) Amount: Simply put, if your average transaction amount (one sale) is $10.00 you should be looking for ways to increase it. Do the math and add a dollar or two to every sale and see how much that adds to your bottom line in one year. For example, offer your customers complimentary supplements (add-ons) to your products 3. Increasing the Average Number of Transactions per Customer: Lets say your average customer purchases "something" from you twice a month Now assume that you can provide them with services (e.g. free delivery), add-ons (expanded product line), up-sells, etc. that make them purchase more often Again, do the math and youll be amazed at how quickly the numbers raise. 3.5. Decreasing Customer Churn: Okay, heres where I differ with my colleagues I think this one is related to number 3, but not the same. Simply put, churn refers to the number of customers who take their business elsewhere or leave for other reasons. If your average customer remains your customer for six months, think of how your profits would rise if you kept them longer! This is where it really starts to get fun. Heres illustration of how you can put numbers 2, 3, and 3.5 ONLY to work Example Assumptions: 1. I am a widget retailer 2. I have just finished a widely successful customer acquisition campaign and now have 300 new customers 3. Ive done my research and, on average, each of my customers: Spends $10/sale Purchases twice per month Stays with my company 6 months 4. Given this scenario, my 300 new customers will purchase $36,000 worth of widgets during their lifetime with my company 300 customers x $10/sale x 2 times/month x 6 months = $36,000** Now Ill keep the same formula but change one, or more, of the numbers with the amount of customers remaining constant. 1. 300 customers x $13/sale x 2 times/month x 6 months = $46,800 (23% increase) 2. 300 customers x $10/sale x 3 times/month x 6 months = $54,000 (34% increase) 3. 300 customers x $10/sale x 2 times/month x 8 months = $48,000 (25% increase) 4. 300 customers x $13/sale x 3 times/month x 8 months = $96,000 (267% increase) ** Remember, this is gross, (sale price less materials and labor) not net profit. This is a very simple, but powerful, model. It clearly illustrates how important it is to find ways to grow your business geometrically with the customers you already have. Even better, it is far less costly, and often more effective to implement these programs than ones designed to acquire new customers. Watering Your Garden - How to Make Each Drop Count
By Yvonne Cunnington Water-wise gardening or xeriscaping the practice of gardening in dry conditions - is becoming much more important to gardeners, especially those in dry areas. If you have sandy soil, steep slopes where water runs off quickly, a country garden you visit only on weekends, high water bills or watering restrictions during the growing season, read on to find out how to save money, use water resources more responsibly and stop lugging all those hoses around unnecessarily. Ten ways to make each drop count
Group especially thirsty plants together, so you can water them without having to do the entire garden; take advantage of low moist spots for such plants. Investigate drought-tolerant plants - they often have taproots, or grey, fuzzy, waxy or finely divided leaves. Avoid frequent, shallow waterings; water needs to penetrate about four inches into soil for it to do any good. Encourage plants to develop extensive root systems by infrequent, but deep, generous watering about one inch of water every week if rainfall is inadequate (buy a rain gauge to measure precipitation, so you don't water unnecessarily). Mulch bare soil to a depth of two to four inches to prevent evaporation and maintain soil moisture; use organic materials such as shredded wood or bark, straw, shredded leaves, compost or cocoa bean hulls; (inorganic mulch such as gravel or stone chips also retains moisture, but won't break down to help improve soil). Don't water between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. when hot sun evaporates a lot of water. Water plants at soil level to get moisture straight to roots, rather than on leaves. Use soaker hoses or drip irrigation, rather than sprinklers (much of the water thrown into the air by sprinklers evaporates); these systems also avoid wasting water on walkways, patios and driveways. Install a barrel to collect rainwater from roof; a modest rain of one quarter of an inch on a 1000 ft square roof yields 150 gallons; rain barrels come with a shut-off valve and hose connection so you can fill your watering can for hand-watering. During drought, water large trees by allowing your hose to dribble a small amount of water around the drip-line for several hours to ensure that water is absorbed instead running off quickly. Newly planted trees need supplemental water for the first two seasons, especially in hot, dry summers. Learn How You Can Grow Orchids At Home
By Lee Dobbins Many people think that growing orchids is something that can only be done in big hothouses however, you can grow orchids at home if you pick the right type and provide it with the right environment. Orchids that work best for home growing are those that grow high in the trees hanging from the branches and get the nutrition from the rain, jungle air and decaying vegetation that their roots come in contact with. In order to grow these orchids at home, youll need to provide them with a growing area that comes close to their native environment. Humidity Orchids thrive in humid climates and if you want to grow them at home youll need to provide them with an area where they can have at least 50% humidity. in order to do this, you can set your orchid pots on a tray that is filled with water but not In the tray just above it so that the humidity from the water can come up with a water does not soak into the pot. may sting is also important to make sure there is sufficient in circulation so that the leaves and pedals can dry off properly. Water Its important that your work is to not sit in water but remain moist. You should water than once a week after the soil has dried out. Make sure there is no standing water. Fertilize with a water-soluable fertilizer made specifically for orchids. Sunlight Different types of orchids need different amounts of sunlight and if you cant provide natural sunlight you can try fluorescent grow lights. In the winter, your records will need at least four hours of light. Soil You can buy ready mixed orchid potting mixes and this is what you should use for your orchids. Pests Orchids can be prone to diseases and pests. They can succumb to fungal disease viral disease and bacterial disease and often have mites, aphids, caterpillars, slugs, mealy bugs, snails, white flies, and dendrobium beatles. growing them indoors can reduce the bugs immensely but you still have to be on the lookout for pests and disease. To treat pests on your orchids, you should use pesticides from a local garden supply store. Be sure to always use them per instructions. If you can, try to go with organic pesticides that are easy on the environment. Bringing Your Fiance to America
By John Kunkle There are essentially two legal ways to bring the woman of your dreams to America: As a fianc (before you are married) As a wife (after you are married) Of the two, bringing her to America under a fianc visa is the fastest and easiest process and is the best method for you to follow. We will discuss this method first. The number one rule in the application process is that you should not attempt to fool or mislead the INS, now called the CIS under the Department of Homeland Security, or US embassy in any way. Even though it is now officially the CIS -- Citizenship and Immigration Services under the Department of Homeland Security, everybody but the government stills refers to it as the INS. We will continue to refer to the agency as the INS throughout our discussion below. However, you are now familiar with the fact that it has been renamed. They are still using all the same numbers for the forms and all the same paperwork, with very few exceptions. There Are No Shortcuts: If you are already married, or you are planning to get married in her country before you bring her to America, dont try to slip this past them. Chances are, it wont work. The consequences of getting caught are not worth the chance. Your application will probably be denied, without possibility of re-application. Your fianc will probably be blacklisted, which means that she will never be able to come to the US. You may be blacklisted by the INS and / or subject to criminal prosecution and fines. Do not show up at the local US embassy in Russia with your fianc and try to get a tourist visa or student visa for her. Not only will they not give her a visa, they may mark her passport that will not allow her to apply for a visa for at least a year. They may also permanently blacklist her from immigrating to America. The reason for this is that she is applying for a temporary tourist or student visa while her intent is to immigrate to America permanently. The INS and US embassy personnel consider this a misrepresentation at best and fraudulent at worst. These shortcuts are not worth taking because of your ignorance or impatience with the legal process. The possibility of having to wait a few more months for you to get married or for your fianc to come to America is not worth the consequences of getting caught stepping outside the law. Follow The Rules: Learn the rules and follow them. Or you can hire someone to help you with the process. US embassy personnel are aware that many people come to America on temporary visas and then disappear once they are in America. If you are going to bring your fianc to America, you have to apply for a permanent visa, which is either a fianc visa or a spousal visa. If you follow the law, there is almost no doubt that your fianc will be allowed to come to America, provided that you both meet the standards established by the INS and the US embassy. It may take a little longer than you would like, but she will be able to come here and stay here legally, which is the ultimate goal. John has been to Russia and CIS countries many times. He has been successfully married to his Belarussian wife for over five years. He will show you how to meet her, how to bring her home, and how to successfully survive marriage to a Russian woman. He will show you how too.

Top 10 Ways to Create and Manage Opportunity
By Philip E. Humbert Most of us are used to the concepts of risk management or time management. Many of the same principles can be applied to creating and responding to opportunities. Instead of thinking of opportunities as just "coming along", you can actually increase the number of opportunities available to you, and there are specific principles you can use to assess whether a "possibility" has real "probability" and "profitability" for you. In times of rapid change, increasing the number of options you have available, and a system for prioritizing and responding to possibilities are critical business functions. 1. Enlarge your circle of friends. To increase the number of opportunities available, you need to go beyond traditional networking to generate friendships and trust with people who "aren't like me". Use any system you prefer, but be certain that your friendships include various ethnic, economic and social backgrounds, people who "think differently" - artists, engineers, teachers, "kids" and "old timers". Don't just "think outside the box"; network outside your circle! 2. Always be open to possibility. Years ago one of my mentors told me, "Everything I have is for sale, except my wife." That may be rather crude and politically incorrect today, but his point was that any business opportunity, any creative idea or investment suggestion was worth at least a few seconds of his time. Look for the unlikely, consider the unthinkable and ponder the improbable. Life's biggest opportunities are often disguised. 3. Practice creativity. Intentionally think of a way to turn every crack-pot, bad idea into something useful. This is not about finding a way to invest in every scheme that comes your way, it's about practicing creativity, turning ideas on their heads, finding the kernel of wisdom or value, and throwing the rest away. 4. Avoid being overly tied to your goals. Goals, and plans for achieving them, can be extremely useful. They can keep us on track, focus our efforts, and motivate us when we're tired. But they can also blind us to new possibilities. Work toward your goals; don't let them run your life. New ideas and alternative possibilities will come along. Don't drive right past them in your hurry to finish last year's project! 5. "He who hesitates is a damned fool!" This quote from Mae West is a classic call to action. Being "light on your feet", or in Muhammad Ali's old phrase, being able to "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee" is useful business advice. There are times when opportunity knocks, but only stays at the door for a moment. Be prepared to respond quickly. 6. "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread." Being able to respond quickly is not the same as being foolish. About 95% of the opportunities, ideas and invitations that come your way will not be worth pursuing. If it's a good idea today, it will likely still be a good idea after a night's sleep and consultation with your trusted advisors. Balance, thoughtfulness and a healthy skepticism are also critical. 7. Assess the probability of success. Just as risk management compares the odds of being struck by lightening (extremely unlikely) to the chances of a critical shipment being lost (more likely), and assigns different values to each, so opportunities have differing probabilities of success. Just because an opportunity could work out, doesn't mean it will. 8. Assess the potential payoffs. Again, borrowing from risk management, it's essential to asses the potential for "winning big". The guy who invented the Frisbee had a strange idea with a low probability of catching on, but the rewards have been enormous! The same goes for turning a coffee bar into Starbucks or sneakers into Nike. What were the probabilities that a couple of college students could turn some computer code into an operating system and end up with Microsoft? Low probability of success, but huge payoffs! 9. Actively invite opportunities. Let friends, co-workers, colleagues, competitors and customers know that you are receptive to new ideas. They are much more likely to share a possibility with you if they know you are always "looking for ideas", having fun with possibilities and trying to understand the "next big thing". Let them know you aren't necessarily hoping to change careers, just open and interested in new opportunities. And don't ridicule anything! Every idea is someone's baby and, amazingly, most of them have some value hidden in there somewhere! 10. Assess opportunities in terms of your values. You know your strengths, your interests and your core values. There will be opportunities that will ask you to become someone you aren't. You could make a fortune in stocks, real estate, software, or a thousand other industries, but you have to live with yourself. First, maintain your integrity. Copyright 2003 by Philip E. Humbert. Determining Model Train Values
By Michael Casamento Many people are often curious to know how best to determine the value of their model train collection. Even the most casual train collector will someday have the need to get an estimate of value whether it be for trading, selling, insuring, or just satisfying their own curiosity. In order to do this accurately and fairly, we must first cut all emotional ties to the particular train in question. We all have our favorites, but because our love for a particular train model could potentially overstate its value in our minds, we must be able to temporarily disconnect the heart strings, and be as objective as possible. Basically, there are three major factors to consider when attempting to value your model trains. The first, and most obvious, is rarity. Many people tend to look at a trains production numbers as the key factor in determining rarity, however this is not the only measure. Although a train may be considered rare if few were produced, rarity is also governed by the rules of supply and demand. Just because a train may have been produced by the thousands, instead of the hundreds, does not necessarily mean it cant be rare. As long as demand outpaces supply for a particular model train, that train will be hard to find on the open market, keeping its value high. The second factor is condition. This is where things tend to get a little tricky, and an objective view is most important. Although there are many terms used to describe a model trains condition, they are often misleading and inaccurate. To help clarify the situation, the TCA (Train Collectors Association) has defined a scale of Condition/Grading Standards which is universally accepted when determining the condition of model trains. The scale is as follows: Mint / Brand New: All original, unused and unblemished. Factory New / Brand New: The model is all original, unused, may show factory rubs and the slightest evidence of handling, shipping and having been test run at the factory. Restoration Required Junk: Parts value only The third major factor is popularity. This is often a two edged sword in that the more popular a model train is, the more of them will be available for sale. Too much supply can affectively lower the trains value if demand does not keep pace. On the other hand, history has shown that popularity is in some cases just as important as rarity on the open market. This can be illustrated by looking at one of the most popular trains Lionel ever produced, the Santa Fe Super Chief. Even though thousands were originally sold, making them far from rare, the train continues to be a huge hit with the public. Prime examples of these trains are highly regarded, and easy to sell for a decent dollar. Taking these three factors into account, it becomes possible to get a fairly close estimate as to the value of your model train. Naturally, model trains that are rare, in top condition, and favored by fellow collectors, will demand the greatest prices on the open market. Conversely, those trains that are easy to come by, in poor condition, and not very well received by fellow collectors, will bring the lowest prices. Lets face it, no matter how hard you try the best you are going to be able to get is an estimate of the model trains value. To accurately determine a model trains value one must put it up for sale. The price that fellow train collectors are willing to pay will yield the only true measure of value. If all this seems a bit confusing, dont despair. Luckily the age of the internet has greatly simplified the process of model train valuation. One of the best resources you can use to value your model train collection is the ebay auction site. Ebay has become the ruler for quickly finding out how popular your train is and how much it will fetch on the open market. Collectors and dealers all use ebay on a regular basis, so if your particular model train is selling for high bucks on ebay then youre in luck! If you are into Lionel and American Flyer, pick up a copy of Greenbergs Guide from Greenberg Publishing Company. These guides are an excellent resource for learning all about particular train models in detail. They also make a Pocket Price Guide, but it is hard to top ebay for an instant, real world view of the model train marketplace.
